What do we do?
The MiMTSS TA Center works to increase outcomes for all learners by assisting educators in developing systems and frameworks.
There are three categories of MTSS supports provided through the Center. These categories are provided on a continuum of intensity based on the supports provided and the effort required with accessing those supports. The TA support categories include: universal, targeted, and intensive.
Universal Support involves information provided to primarily educators through their own accord or in connection to larger district efforts. Examples include conference presentations provided by MiMTSS staff, the annual MTSS conference and other learning opportunities available to all Michigan educators, as well as newsletters, guidebooks, and briefs, available on our website.
Targeted Support involves services developed based on needs common to multiple recipients and not extensively individualized. This includes one-time events, such as facilitating strategic planning or hosting a series of state or regional conferences on specified content to meet an identified need. A letter of agreement is included in the partnership. Examples include events that extend over a period of time, such as facilitating a series of conference calls on single or multiple topics that were designed around the needs of the recipients.
Intensive Support involves services often provided in-person and includes mutual commitments from the Technical Assistance Center and local educators. The Center helps districts in the intensive technical assistance programs to increase effectiveness by focusing on outcomes, implementation teams, procedures, resources, data for improvement, and implementation with fidelity. A letter of agreement defines the partnership with the focus of improving student outcomes. Districts interested in Intensive Technical Assistance need to apply through an annual application process.
Intensive Technical Assistance Partners
The Integrated MTSS program promotes district-wide implementation of MTSS that strategically integrates both behavior and reading supports through an intensive technical assistance partnership. Participation involves a structured process for District Implementation Teams to develop and manage an implementation plan that will endure over time.
Promoting Positive School Climate (PPSC)
The PPSC program promotes district-wide implementation of School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) through an intensive technical assistance partnership. Participation involves a structured process for District Implementation Teams to develop and manage an implementation plan that will endure over time.
Equity Pilot Program
The TA Center works directly with elementary and secondary schools for this pilot program to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The program puts an emphasis on reducing significant disproportionality, meaning that schools do not discipline students of a particular race or ethnicity at a higher rate than other students.
