Data-based decision-making is a critical feature of MTSS. District and School Leadership Teams are encouraged to assess and evaluate their capacity and fidelity with which components of MTSS are implemented. Proper implementation requires data to be collected and analyzed at all levels, along with conducting data reviews using past and current data, in addition to comparison data from Districts and schools across the state. The Michigan Evaluation Briefs provide summary data across districts and schools implementing MTSS, which includes completion rates, average scores and variability across tiers, subscales, and items. The summary data can be used to better understand variability within and between scores, prioritize items for improvement, and help revise implementation plans.
