The Michigan Multi-Tiered System of Supports Technical Assistance Center (MiMTSS TA Center), in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is excited to announce the dates of the 19th Annual MTSS Conference:

November 12 & 13, 2024 ~Ā Lansing Center (Lansing, MI)

Call for Proposals

We are seeking proposals for 75-minute breakout sessions and/or poster presentations for the 2024 annual MTSS conference.

We are especially interested in proposals that:

  • Make an overt connection to MTSS as a framework that includes academics and social, emotional, and behavioral supports. Review the MDE MTSS Practice Profile as a point of reference for MTSS implementation in Michigan.

  • Demonstrate a strong focus on student growth and/or increased achievement.

  • Showcase practical and replicable MTSS practices within the state of Michigan.

  • Highlight innovative approaches to address the unique needs of Michigan students.

  • Build upon and connect to the definition of educational equity, ā€œā€¦is when educational policies, practices, interactions, and resources areĀ representativeĀ of, constructed by, and responsive to all people so that each individual hasĀ accessĀ to,Ā meaningfully participatesĀ in,Ā and hasĀ positive outcomesĀ fromĀ high-quality learning experiences, regardless of individual characteristics and group memberships.ā€ (Fraser, 2008; Great Lakes Equity Center, 2012)

  • Incorporate audience participation and engagement strategies.

  • Target various audience levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) across the educational cascade.Ā 

Presenter Benefits:

  • Opportunity to showcase expertise and best practices to a statewide audience.

  • Poster presenters will receive one free conference registration and a $75 stipend to offset the cost of printing a poster (reimbursed to your district or ISD)

  • Breakout presenters will receive up to two free conference registrations and one travel stipend per team to offset the cost of travel based on the distance to the Lansing Center (reimbursed to your district or ISD)

    • Less than 100 miles one way: no travel stipend

    • 100-200 miles one way: $250

    • More than 200 miles one way: $500

Proposal Submission:

All proposals must be submitted electronicallyĀ and include the following information. Deadline for submitting proposals is May 10, 2024. Primary contact will be notified by May 31, 2024 of the submission status.

TheĀ annual conference focuses on advancing effective MTSS implementation to ensure the growth and success for all learners. The two-day conference is an opportunity to learn the latest in research and best practices related to MTSS, strengthen implementation within your context, and connect and share with other attendees.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain an understanding of the latest research, promising practices, and critical issues related to MTSS to connect with their existing practices.
  • Learn about developing systems to support effective implementation.
  • Expand learning of contextual implementation of practices.
  • Acquire new knowledge and skills applicable to their specific role/position.
