An Event For:

Elementary Multi-Disciplinary Teams, including a building administrator, systems coach, reading interventionists for first and/or second grades, special education teacher, and a data analyst (someone who likes data)

Our Summer Intensifying Literacy Instruction series focuses on the advanced tiers within an MTSS framework. This team-based professional learning includes facilitated work time for Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs). It is designed to ensure an intervention system for one reading intervention forĀ first and/or second gradeĀ that allows teams to engage in Data-Based Individualization is in place for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, MDTs will develop the infrastructure and skills needed to support the ongoing work at the advanced tiers, including practice using scenarios to make decisions regarding the progress of groups and individual students. Practice opportunities include the application of the taxonomy of intervention intensity.

A school must register a full MDT, including a building administrator, systems coach, reading interventionist for first and/or second grades, a special education teacher, and a data analyst (someone who really likes data). Check out theĀ MDT Recruitment and Selection guidance documentĀ to help identify the roles and responsibilities of the MDT and to support the identification of your schoolā€™s MDT members.

This series also allows the Intermediate School District (ISD) or Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) to build capacity to support MDTs and the advanced tiers for early literacy. We strongly encourage schools to include representation from their ISD or RESA on the team.

District and School Requirements:
The participating school and its district agree to the following:

  • Form an MDT with the principal and, ideally, the ISD Early Literacy Consultant/Coach as MDT members
  • Identify one grade level to focus on (first or second grade)
  • Attend the training series
  • Use a standard treatment protocol intervention (options outlined below)
  • Collect Implementation RecordsĀ (enter summary dosage data for October, November, and December 2024 (at minimum) into the MiMTSS Data System)
  • Observe interventionists and provide feedback using a fidelity checklist. Enter summary fidelity data for October, November, and December 2024 (at minimum) into the MiMTSS Data System.Ā Ā
  • Administer theĀ Reading Tiered Fidelity Inventory (R-TFI) Advanced Tiers itemsĀ and enter scores into the MiMTSS Data System by the end of December 2024

    • DIBELS 8th Edition
    • aimsweb+
    • Fast Bridge
  • Submit at least one intensification plan (group or individual student) along with a progress monitoring graph
  • Agree to submit data from the identified grade level for inclusion in the SSIP (must include students identified for intervention and demographic data)
  • Data can be provided to the MiMTSS TA Center program evaluator(s) through direct access to your data system as a district user, or by submitting password-protected data files to the evaluator after fall and spring screening, including details about which students are participating in intervention.
  • District-level signed data use agreement for the MiMTSS Data SystemĀ
