Secondary Intensifying Literacy Instruction Summer Series

The Secondary Intensifying Literacy Summer Series focuses on the Advanced Tiers within an MTSS Framework. This team-based professional learning includes facilitated work time for secondary teams to establish Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) roles and responsibilities, as well as time to establish an Intervention System. Teams will plan for the implementation of at least one 6th-12th grade reading intervention program that allows them to engage in the Data-Based Individualization (DBI) process during the school year. MDTs will develop the necessary infrastructure and skills to support the ongoing work of the Advanced Tiers, working through scenarios to apply decision-making rules. They will also practice using the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity to improve student reading outcomes. 

Ideal MDT members include a building administrator, a reading interventionist, a systems coach, a reading instructional coach, and special education representation.
